LA3D Club presents: Open Screen 3D Movie Night

The LA3DClub has entered into a partnership with the Downtown Independent Theater to provide a venue for independent 3-D movies to screen in Los Angeles. Thanks to Perry Hoberman at USC, who arranged for the donation of a theatrical silver screen, we now have a permanently installed screen in the theater. The club also recently acquired two ProjectionDesign F3 large venue projectors, which provide dual-digital polarized projection from the Downtown Indie's projection booth and project a sharp, bright, keystone-free image over 22 feet wide.

The LA3D Movie Division will be offering monthly screenings to the public through this new venue, and to kick thing off, we will be holding an "Open Screen 3-D Movie Night" on Wednesday, January 27th at 8pm. The event is $10, and is open to the public. As we have done for past Movie Division meetings, we invite everyone to bring their own stereoscopic video on hard drive, flash drive or optical drive, to add to the potluck of 3-D content. Files can also be sent to 3D@workprint.com via the internet, by using services like transferbigfiles.com and sendspace.com, or by uploading to youtube as a side-by-side file using the yt3d tag . We are able to play many file formats - avi, wmv, xvid, mov, h264, etc., and most 3-D formats - parallel, cross-view, over/under, L/R dual streams, etc. at resolutions up to 1080p HD (with some bandwith limitations). Caveat - while we will do our best to play all content we receive, we make no guarantees, as there are so many file variables to deal with. Feel free to email me with any file related questions.

Note: Paid parking is available at many parking lots in the adjacent area. The theater is also only several blocks from the MTA Red Line.

The Stereo Club of Southern California (a.k.a "the LA 3D Club") members parially paid for the projectors out of the club treasury. Do SCSC members get a break on the admission like the USC students?
